Dr. Ivan Misner Ascends Into Rarified New Media Air With 400th Podcast

Longevity Pushes The Official BNI Podcast to Top 1/2 of 1% of All Podcasts Worldwide

In the Spring of 2007, the world’s foremost authority on business networking was skeptical about the idea of launching a podcast. Eight years and 400 episodes later the value is clear to BNI founder Dr. Ivan Misner.

“Business people who immerse and engage in a culture of learning are far more successful than those who do not,” stated Dr. Misner. “The BNI Podcast has helped tens of thousands of business professionals sharpen their networking skills, improve their business, and increase their referrals.”

“He was quite hesitant at first,” stated Frank Felker, the marketing consultant and BNI member who first approached Misner with the concept. “His visionary side saw the big-picture benefits but his entrepreneurial side was concerned about the costs in time and treasure. Once we got started though, and the tremendous positive feedback began rolling in from the field, he quickly saw that he had made the right decision.”

Over the years Misner’s guests have included business luminaries such as Brian Tracy and Brian Buffini but, for the most part, he interviews BNI members and officers such as Sam Schwartz, executive director of BNI-NOVA in Northern Virginia, who has appeared as a guest three times, most recently on Episode 399.

“The value of having a direct connection with the visionary leader of this organization on a weekly basis is incredible,” stated Schwartz. “The impact that the podcast has had on BNI as a whole and its members around the world has been extraordinary.”

Early in its life, production responsibility for The Official BNI Podcast was assumed by Priscilla Rice, a BNI member and owner of Live Oak Studio in Berkeley, California. She has seen many changes and tremendous growth during her eight years producing and co-hosting every show.

“Ivan is completely dedicated to his vision of changing the way the world does business and he never loses his focus or his passion,” said Rice. “That comes through in every episode.”

In recognition of the podcast’s enduring popularity, Dr. Misner chose to support his “Big Hairy Audacious Goal” of changing the way the world does business by incorporating BNI’s core values into his 400th episode:

  1. Givers Gain
  2. Building Meaningful Relationships
  3. Lifelong Learning
  4. Traditions + Innovation
  5. Positive Attitude

Twice recognized as one of the Top 100 Small Business Podcasts by Small Business Trends Radio, The Official BNI Podcast continues to be enjoyed by thousands of entrepreneurs every week and looks forward to a bright future.

“I think the podcast has done well because networking is not taught in colleges or universities anywhere in the world,” said Dr. Misner. “Business people are hungry to learn how to network effectively and that will always be the mission of the podcast.”
