Denise Mercado, CEO and co-owner of Fayetteville Hyperbarics LLC has just launched a new holistic wellness center under the umbrella of her existing Hyperbaric Clinic.

Mercado explains the concept this way, “My husband John and I have provided Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy for years to successfully treat PTSD, concussions, Autism, non-healing diabetic wounds and much more. Now with the addition of new holistic professionals, we can be even more effective and help many more people.”

Mercado has brought together seven of the most successful local holistic professionals in the Fayetteville NC and Fort Bragg NC area. Each of them is an expert in their chosen modality and now they will collaborate with one another to share information, techniques and strategies in order to facilitate faster healing for the patients and to lower costs wherever possible.

Starting with her husband and co-owner John Mercado, the center’s Hyperbaric Certified Technician and nationally Registered EMT, Mercado has recruited a talented and caring team of holistic pros to share a common goal: to facilitate healing for medical issues and not just ‘put a band-aid’ on them.

Her assembly of holistic and wellness providers is an impressive one:

Dr. Cynthia Wells-McLemore, M.D. is the Medical Director for the Holistic Center. She is Board Certified with Holistic and Integrative Medicine and has provided medical care for over 30 years.

Dr. Dorrette Grant, M.D. is board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is Certified in Hyperbaric Medicine and Problem Wound Management. Dr. Grant also has a passion for educating her female patients.

Dr. April Alphin, N.D. is the center’s Naturopathic Physician who is Board Certified with the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners. Dr. Alphin has a Doctorate from the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine, one of only six accredited schools in the United States. She considers educating her patients as empowering them to achieve better health.

Brenda Howell, LMBT is lead medical massage therapist and owner of Healing Hands Body Therapy. Brenda uses her modality to facilitate healing with hands that are trained to trace connected muscles to the root cause of the patient’s existing pain.

Lynn Hauka is the Personal Breakthrough Coach. Lynn specializes in life coaching for people with chronic conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, & depression. She has 13+ years as a Healing Touch practitioner and 21 years as a meditation practitioner. Lynn is a Veteran and the daughter of a Veteran with PTSD.

Melissa Brady, BSD is the resident Functional Medicine Educator with 21 years in the medical field of Nutrition and 12 years expertise in Diabetes Management Education. Melissa draws upon both science and nature to help facilitate the healing of the body, mind, and spirit.

Adding to those seven, we must also include the CEO in the list, making it an even eight.
Denise Mercado’s introduction to Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) began when her oldest son, John II joined the U.S. Army as a hard hat diver. He shared with her that HBOT is the only effective treatment for decompression sickness (the “bends”). Her interest in HBOT as a holistic option began shortly after her youngest son’s death in 2007. While serving children in a business named after Danny, she continued to meet parents of children with Autism and Cerebral Palsy traveling great distances to visit HBOT clinics. Countless hours of research on the many benefits of HBOT led to the realization that this viable treatment could have helped Danny in so many ways. Ever since then, she has been on a mission to share the healing with as many others as possible.

John Mercado sums up the current project this way, “For many years, my wife Denise and I have been advocates of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, because creating an oxygen-rich environment is non-invasive and very effective for treating over fifty medical issues. Now we get to work with a team of caring professionals who will cooperate and support each other in helping patients heal. It’s a very exciting prospect!”
