Sutton Siding & Remodeling, Inc., of Springfield, Illinois, has received GAF’s most prestigious contractor award: The GAF President’s Club Award. This highly coveted award recognizes Sutton Siding & Remodeling as one of the “elite of the elite” residential roofing contractors in the United States.
GAF is North America’s largest roofing manufacturer, and only GAF Master Elite(R) Contractors can compete for its President’s Club Award. To qualify for this award, a contractor must demonstrate an exceptional level of excellence in their business, especially in the areas of Installation Excellence, Consumer Protection, and Installer Training.
Sutton Siding & Remodeling has been a GAF Master Elite(R) Contractor since 2004. To become a Master Elite(R) Contractor–a status that less than 2% of roofing contractors nationwide have achieved–a candidate must demonstrate proper licensing and adequate insurance, have a proven reputation and show commitment to ongoing professional training.
According to Trip Sutton, marketing manager at Sutton Siding & Remodeling, the company’s status as a GAF Master Elite(R) Contractor is a valuable selling point. “We are currently the only Master Elite contractor in Springfield, and that’s been true since we began to earn the award. People choose us because of the value of that.”
Quality of work is also a factor in Sutton Siding’s success. “Quality comes from time and training,” says Sutton. “We’ve been in business for 69 years–the fourth generation of a family-owned business. We’re pretty proud of that. Another thing that is not very common in our area is that our roofers actually work for our company; they’re not subcontractors. People can rely on the fact that we’re properly training our people–customers don’t have to worry about subcontractors who might try to cancel insurance or cut corners or anything like that.”
Sutton Siding has a commitment to the environment. “Our roofing division is trying to work with some of the waste companies in town to see what we can do about getting shingles recycled,” explains Sutton. “We are a GAF-certified green roofer. There is currently no place in Springfield to take tough-to-recycle shingles; the closest place is about an hour’s drive from here, which makes the cost unreasonably high for consumers who choose that option. If we can get companies to bring that recycling opportunity into Springfield, I think it will help the whole community to improve.”
Giving back to the community is also important to Sutton Siding. The company donates cabinets and accessories from home remodeling projects to Habitat for Humanity. It also works with Kenzie’s Christmas Wish in memory of Mackenzie Moreland, a local-area teenager who passed away from myocarditis in 2011. The program provides Christmas gifts and clothing to underprivileged children in the area.
In 2015, Sutton Siding plans to continue with the same level of value and service. “We’re continuing to offer the great warranties and trying to become more green with the waste-management companies. We’ve also taken on a new product line, Living Space Sunrooms. It’s a high-quality product. We’ve never worked with a sunroom company before, so we’re very excited about this new venture.”
