Dr. Cali Estes, the Addictions Coach and founder of The Addictions Academy, confirmed she has been invited to join the Board of Directors for the acclaimed 10,000 Beds treatment scholarship program. 10,000 Beds partners with extraordinary treatment programs throughout the United States to provide addiction treatment scholarships to addicts with no resources, successfully helping people get into rehab and allowing them the opportunity to turn their lives around.Â
Â
10,000 Beds founder, Jean Krisle states, “We envision a world where individuals in recovery from a substance use disorder are not sidelined because of their past, but welcomed, embraced and included as valuable, lovable people with limitless futures.”
Â
The 10,000 Beds outreach and scholarship program is on track to surpass $10,000,000 in the total value of awarded scholarships in the past 3+ years.
Â
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Estes as a Board Member and we welcome her with open arms. I value her experience and insight. I can hardly wait!” Krisle exclaimed.
Â
Explaining the need for an increase in scholarship programs such as the 10,000 Beds program, Estes noted, “Jean’s mission is totally in sync with mine, I share her vision and have been a great support for some time. Get those who need help…help. Anyone, anywhere can get caught in addiction and often faces a tough battle, especially if they lack money and other resources.”
Â
The 10,000 Beds mission from the start has been recovery.
Â
Their website states, “We envision a world where individuals in recovery from a substance use disorder are not sidelined because of their past, but welcomed, embraced and included as valuable, lovable people with limitless futures.”
Â
Nearly 200 people are succumbing to overdose every day in the United States right now. The National Institutes of Health is currently studying the issue of possible over-prescription of opioids as part of its Helping to End Addiction Long-term Initiative. And recently the Food and Drug Administration ordered drug companies to examine whether opioids are effective against chronic pain.
Â
47,600 people died of opioid overdoses in 2017, more than 17,000 of them from legal painkillers such as oxycodone, hydrocodone, and methadone.
Â
The “epidemic” is real and the 10,000 Beds unique model of partnering with treatment programs directly for the donation of scholarship beds is recognized as innovative and effective, and applauded throughout the behavioral health industry and beyond.
Â
The idea for 10,000 Beds was conceived in the fall of 2014. The idea was the result of Jean’s conversations with many persons needing help for addiction who had no resources, followed by site visits to treatment centers with empty beds. She knew this was an equation needing a solution and she immediately set out to solve it.
Â
With the costs of treatment dissuading many who would otherwise seek help, the 10,000 Beds program can be a savior.
Â
To increase awareness, Jean and her husband travel throughout the country towing a large RV wrapped with the 10,000 Beds logo and information. Her goal: to get as many people treatment center scholarships as she can.
Â
Krisle said, “Our role in a person’s recovery is simple. We provide hope, support, and opportunity for them to change their own lives. We do this by connecting those who need help with those who can help.”Â
Â
Krisle went on to say, “We believe in the people we work with, both clients and programs. We don’t save lives, but we hope and pray our clients choose to save theirs.”
Â
Krisle and Estes will be celebrating the work of the 10,000 Beds organization at their upcoming Gratitude Gala in Santa Ana, California. Proceeds from the benefit event help to directly fund the scholarships and work of this life-changing program.
Â
When asked why she was accepting the invitation to join 10,000 Beds, Dr. Estes asserted, “This is the type of amazing work I love to support. Sometimes people desiring recovery need the scholarship to get over the hump. I get that.”Â
Â
“I give away thousands of dollars in scholarships to my Addictions Academy students, so I fully understand the “pay it in advance” model. The return on investment can be felt far and wide.”
Â
Dr. Cali Estes and The Addictions Academy have been offering a wide-ranging assortment of advanced training for years in an on-going effort to counteract the growing addiction problem. The Academy has more than 30 faculty teaching over 40 courses in five different languages. Program graduates can be found in 23 countries helping address the addiction problem worldwide.
