DOWA Metals & Mining and Key Engineering Solutions Partner To Form New Innovative Co

International mining and smelting powerhouse, DOWA Metals & Mining America, and highly regarded catalytic converter platinum group metal recycler, Key Engineering Solutions LLC, recently partnered to form an innovative new company.

DOWA Metals & Mining and automotive catalytic converter platinum group metal recycler, Key Engineering Solutions LLC, recently partnered to form Key Metal Refining LLC.

John Bruno, President of Key Metal Refining, states “This partnership is great because DOWA has been hugely committed to this industry for a long time. They’ve invested in world-class smelters and have superior refining capacity at their Nippon PGM operation in Kosaka, Japan, but have not marketed well in the United States. Key Metal Refining gives them the opportunity to extend their reach here in the U.S.”

Bruno, the owner and founder of Key Engineering Solutions (KES), is a pioneer in extracting metals from catalytic converters dating back to 1985, and is the holder of three U.S. Patents.

KES’s assets and liabilities were transferred to the newly formed Key Metal Refining LLC, which is jointly owned by DOWA Metals & Mining and KES.

“We have the capability to be a significant player in the industry for two reasons. The first is our combined knowledge. DOWA has a 130 year history of mining and smelting, and I’ve been fortunate to be in this industry for over three decades, and have gained a great reputation for having a good understanding of this business and every aspect that goes into it“ Bruno expressed.

He went on to say “Secondly, in today’s competitive environment, where margins are tight, DOWA’s financial backing affords more marketing, buying and expansion opportunities here in the United States”.

Headquartered in Hainesport, New Jersey, USA, Key Metal Refining is expected to raise the bar in recovering PGMs from automotive catalytic converters.

About Key Engineering Solutions
Key Engineering Solutions, LLC. (KES) was established in 2001 to design, develop, engineer and build machinery for the processing of automotive catalytic converters, and the sampling & analysis of platinum group metals (PGMs).

In 2010, KES expanded to include the purchasing of scrap catalytic converters for PGM recovery. The extracted catalysts are sent to refiners to recover and purify PGMs so they can be traded on the NYMEX.
