Fayetteville Hyperbarics Wellness Center Welcomes New Medical Director

Published on July 31, 2017

Fayetteville Hyperbarics Wellness Center and its team of health providers will welcome Deon Faillace M.D. as the new Medical Director during the center's Open House on August 15, 2017.

The core business of Fayetteville Hyperbarics is serving patients with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) where 100% pure oxygen under pressure is provided in a ninety-minute session to facilitate healing for a variety of health issues from autism to traumatic brain injury.

Over the last several months, CEO Denise Mercado has transitioned it into a highly effective Wellness Center, modeled after the great work of similar centers in the western states, and taking it to the next level. This is what attracted the interest of a medical professional of the stature of Dr. Faillace, a general surgeon with decades of experience and an impeccable professional reputation in her practice.

Interestingly in early meetings, Dr.Faillace was mildly skeptical about using Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for other diagnoses beyond those she had experienced in surgical and wound care. A review of current literature opened her mind. As a clinician Dr. Faillace was swayed with the research available online and from providers in the field. Then she was introduced by the wellness team to the local successful case studies, ranging from treatment of autistic children to Lyme disease sufferers to professional athletes with concussions and soldiers with Traumatic Brain Injury and PTSD.

This is when she learned about the local, recently developed, Veterans Rehab Project (VRP). VRP is part of Mission 22, a global non-profit organization, dedicated to helping reduce the amount of Veteran suicides by treating TBI and PTSD. Eight soldiers have completed the program with eight successes and more are beginning treatment to regain their lives.

Dr. Faillace describes it this way, “Our goal is to provide a multidisciplinary approach to wellness. In the collaborative of the team effort is where the results really begin to manifest themselves. In the case of soldiers whose health has been neglected for a variety of reasons in and out of their control, the transformation has been phenomenal and we are now reaching out to new patient niches.”

Mercado and the provider team want to introduce their new Medical Director to the community and help local leaders to learn about how the practice has developed into a complete Wellness Center. Of course, along with the Medical Director, will be the team of health professionals who provide the HBOT, medical massage, physical therapy, nutrition counseling, fitness training and psychological counseling in a collaborative or ala care fashion, and always offering a multidisciplinary approach.

Tours of the facility for visitors will include a visit the hyperbaric chamber room, medical massage area and the new, medical grade far infrared sauna. This is a top of the line sauna which, as opposed to the average sauna, provides a warming factor penetrating deep into the skin to help remove many of the heavy metals and other toxins encountered in modern daily living. It is a singular session in which each user can create a customized environment.

Invitations are going out to local influencers in the Fayetteville NC and Fort Bragg NC community who would like to be aware of a facility which touches every corner of the All-American touted area and beyond.

For example concussions and TBI have been found occurring in amateur, high school, college and professional sports. Then there are the soldiers who have careers of head injuries. Then include local first responders and it doesn’t stop there. Success has also been achieved in helping health conscious, active people achieve new levels by boosting recovery from strenuous exercise and facilitating training for fitness competitions such as CrossFit, powerlifting, body building and marathons.

Mercado has found Invitation response very gratifying, even though the active, contributing members of the military and civilian community are staying very busy. Among the face to face invitations, the feeling is they will likely see many colleagues and associates with whom they know and work, along with leaders they will want to meet, who are just now arriving in Fayetteville and Fort Bragg.
