Jessica K. Hairston, M.D. will receive the honor next week at the 2016 American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Hairston receives the Fellowship on the behalf of the Board of Trustees of the APA, based on the recommendation of the Membership Committee. Upon receiving the news of being recognized for her work in psychiatry, Dr. Hairston stated “I am honored to be selected to be a part of such an esteemed group of physicians.”
Dr. Hairston has been practicing psychiatry in North Carolina since 2007. Being board Certified in Adult psychiatry as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, she is one of only a handful of psychiatrists in North Carolina trained in Infant Psychiatry, serving the mental health needs of children from birth to five years old. Dr. Hairston’s specialties include helping those who are ready to overcome the challenges of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Mood Disorders, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Dr. Hairston will be attending the 2016 Convocation of Distinguished Fellows Ceremony at the Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta, GA, at 5:30 pm Monday May 16, 2016, where all new APA Fellows will be publicly acknowledged for their dedication to their field. The distinguished speaker for the event is Thomas Frieden, M.D.,M.P.H., Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
