Salt Lake Dentist Sinks His Teeth Into A Great Cause

Published on June 1, 2016

On May 19th, Salt Lake City Dentist Dr. Craig Smith donated 150 tooth brushes and containers of dental floss for kids in need in Mexico. Dr. Smith’s efforts were part of a larger effort to collect hygiene items, clothes and financial donations for an impactful mission project in Mexico.

The donation of the much needed dental supplies was part of a charity campaign to help the missionary project of Church In The Valley in Pharr, Texas.  Church In The Valley is working to support a town of families just over the United States and Mexico border in Texas.

Dr. Smith was quoted as saying, “I was happy to donate the supplies.  I have been very fortunate with my practice and I am always looking for positive ways I can give back to the community or those in need.  I hate to hear when kids don’t have even the most basic dental supplies.”

Managing the most basic health needs seems like a simple task, however when supply lines are controlled by local drug cartels, getting help to those in need isn’t so easy. Communities receiving aid are kept confidential to ensure that the missions can continue without sabotage.

“We are always in need of hygiene supplies, clothes, shoes and household items. The citizens we are serving are desperate for so many items. Every little bit helps.” says mission leader David Ventura.
