[Tacoma, WA 06/11/2015] – Vancouver, Washington-based singer-songwriter Matt Boydston will be performing a set of his original songs, fresh off his recording GOING PLACES, at Tacoma’s Rialto Theater 7:30 pm this Saturday, June 13, 2015. Opening for him will be Tacoma’s own NAME & NAME, a well-known musical fixture in his own right, in the Tacoma/South Puget Sound area. Tickets ($15 pre-show, $18 at door) are available online at http://broadwaycenter.org/events/calendar/eventdetail/173/-/matt-boydston-cd-release-tour.

Boydston spent last year recording his multi-styled laden GOING PLACES, in Nashville’s famed Blackbird Studio, with Grammy-award winning engineer and producer David Hall (Gavin DeGraw, LeAnn Rimes, Frank Sinatra) at the helm. Additional Nashville songwriters such as Rachel Thibodeau and Jason Sever, helped craft Boydston’s original songs into a collection that spans a vast musical landscape. Many of his original songs, were inspired from his constant traveling, first as a child crisscrossing the country in his family’s RV and later as part of the US Army.

“I’ve had a ton of twists and turns I’ve experienced in my life, which I believe is reflected in the songs in this new album,” says Boydston. “My time in the Army brought me around the world, such as Egypt, Israel and Panama, where much of my songwriting was inspired and evolved.”

After his stint in the Army, a series of heartbreaks led him to a low point in life. But he credits meeting his wife Lynn, with restoring his ‘self-proclaimed goofy, happy-go-lucky nature, along with his joy.’ Inspired, he set out to take his lifelong dream of recording and performing his own music, sharing his experience and joy with others.

“Joy can be the catalyst to hope, happiness and change,” Boydston says. “When joy rises, hopelessness, sadness and anger can fade, and in that brief moment, lives change. My goal is for my music to bring both joy and positive change in the lives of my listeners.”
