Tarpon Shores Dental dentists, Dr. R. Scott Thompson, Dr. C. Romesh Weerasooriya, and Dr. Shanaka Weerasooriya, DMD were just awarded “Top Dentist” status on the 2016 Top Dentist list.
The Top Dentist 2016 list recognized Dr. R. Scott Thompson for his commitment to his patients and providing patient-driven oral care plans. He was also honored for his commitment to ongoing education and his early adoption and dedication to using the latest technology to provide top-notch dental restoration using the safest and most comfortable methods for his patients.
Dr. Thompson explains, “The single most important part of my approach is to take the time to really find out what my patient wants for themselves. I determine the real presenting condition of their existing oral health and identify long-term goals before any treatment is provided.” Dr. Thompson finds that most patients have never even been asked, “What are your own personal oral health goals?”
The most exciting aspects of Dr. Thompson’s practice revolve around the use of new techniques and equipment. He brought the first ultra low-dose digital X-ray system to Venice in 1995, began using laser therapy in his practice in 2003 and introduced the CEREC single-visit crown system in 2004. This digital system allows the team at Tarpon Shores Dental to greatly simplify the restorative process and eliminate the need for the messy impressions that previously were necessary for crowns to be made.
Dr. Thompson says, “As technology continues to evolve, I’m committed to being at the forefront of the wave and finding new techniques and materials to simplify and improve results for my patients. I want them to have the best health possible and teeth that radiate that picture of health!”
