Shar Jones Hosts a New Podcast Spotlighting the Challenges Facing Mothers and Families of Addicts and Helps To Find Solutions

Mothers, Fathers and other family members are often left feeling hopeless and at a loss when a loved one succumbs to addiction. The Beyond Hope podcast spotlights these problems and helps find solutions.
The Beyond Hope podcast helps parents of addicts, as well as their families and professionals within the substance abuse field and relationship coaches with expert wisdom, advice and success strategies that work today.

Nationally certified Recovery Coach, Shar Jones, hosts a new online radio show, Beyond Hope, which is designed to help reduce the shame and highlight strategies that work to alleviate and eliminate common stumbling blocks for mothers and families impacted by addiction.

Jones’s podcast interviews experts and others highlighting breakthrough success strategies that work in today’s fast-paced world.

“I know first-hand just how difficult it can be to access recovery and relationship counseling resources and other professional help. The goal of this show is to provide valuable insight for mothers who are experiencing shame and suffering, as well as their friends, family, and others who are impacted along the way,” said Jones.

Many families are left without knowing where to turn for help when a loved one becomes addicted to drugs, alcohol or other behaviors. Feelings of shame and the stigma surrounding the disease often prevent families from reaching out for help when they need it.

Jones added, “This show is also a terrific way for industry leaders to learn new, powerful skills and effective strategies. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for addiction recovery and other experts to network with fellow professionals. I’m honored and excited to start this new adventure.”

With opioid overdoses rising nationwide, many families have not gone untouched, spurred by prescription painkiller and heroin abuse. It’s a disease that has far-reaching impact, affecting the entire family of anyone who becomes addicted.

The United States is in the middle of an opioid overdose epidemic, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says.

“Opioids (including prescription opioids and heroin) killed more than 33,000 people in 2015, more than any year on record. Nearly half of all opioid overdose deaths involve a prescription opioid,” CDC says.

In a story posted by NBC news, more and more teens and young adults are showing up in emergency rooms addicted to opioids.

Most of the youths are not showing up because they’re addicted, the researchers said in a report for an annual meeting of pediatricians. They are coming in for some other reason and doctors are discovering they are also addicted to or dependent on opioids.

“We know that opioid crisis is a major problem for the adults in the United States. And now for the first time, we have shown that this problem also exists in the pediatric age group,” said Dr. Veerajalandhar Allareddy, medical director of the pediatric intensive care unit at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

“In our opinion, this is a pediatric public health crisis.”

Ms. Jones’s goal for the show is to bring even more attention to these and more problems which all too often impact the Mothers and families. Beyond Hope will help reduce the stigma surrounding the diseases of addiction and depression.

The growth in demand for addiction recovery, depression counseling, and family support along with access to strategies and services is astonishing, and the Beyond Hope podcast will help to service that need.

“As a mother of an addict, I feel compelled to help those who struggle with the conflicted feelings of loving someone who has become addicted. To help them find a path to freedom and a life of health and happiness,” Jones concluded.

The Beyond Hope podcast can be found on iTunes, Stitcher, Spreaker, YouTube and Google Play.

The show is also featured on WCKG Chicago’s On-Demand Library and the Business Innovators Radio Network.
