FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Hampton, VA – May 23, 2018: The Roofing Company, Inc.
The Roofing Company, Inc., of Hampton, Virginia, has received the most prestigious contractor award GAF offers: The GAF President’s Club Award. This highly coveted award recognizes The Roofing Company as one of the “elite of the elite” residential roofing contractors in the United States.
GAF is North America’s largest roofing manufacturer, and only GAF Master Elite(R) Contractors can compete for its residential President’s Club Award. To qualify for this award, a residential roofing contractor must meet specific criteria in at least one out of three different pathways:
• Performance pathway – where contractors focus on giving their property owners the best possible service, quality, and protection
• Reliability pathway – where the contractor has a long history of offering their customers the best quality and protection
• Service pathway – where contractors consistently offer their customers the best protection available in the marketplace.
The Roofing Company has been a GAF Master Elite(R) Contractor since 2002. To become a Master Elite(R) Contractor–a status that less than 2% of roofing contractors nationwide are able to achieve–a candidate must demonstrate proper licensing (in states that require it), maintain insurance, have a proven reputation, and show commitment to ongoing professional training.
“We value our certified contractors for raising the industry standard year after year by installing the best roofing products and systems. Our President’s Club award recognizes only those contractors who have distinguished themselves by the highest standards of excellence, customer satisfaction, and dependability,” says Jim Slauson, GAF’s VP of Certified Program & Services.
Brian Chalsma, president and CEO, is rightfully proud of The Roofing Company’s reputation. “We make a big deal of installation excellence,” he says. “We’re the leading slate roofing company in Hampton Roads. We were the first Master Elite roofer in Hampton Roads to win the President’s Club Award in its first year, when there were only 28 winners in the entire country. And we’ve won it every year since then. The award shows that our company is dependable. We’re trained well, and we have longevity–we’re in our third decade of service here in Hampton Roads.”
Attention to detail is important at The Roofing Company. “There are little things that some contractors don’t think about–like the importance of cleaning up after the roofing job is complete,” says Chalsma. “You don’t want scraps or debris on your property. A leftover nail popping a tire in your driveway is no fun.”
That attention to quality is not restricted only to job-completion time. “We do a courtesy annual inspection called a Customer Appreciation Inspection,” states Chalsma. “Many customers tell us that previous contractors never came back to check on their work. It’s a big deal for us, with almost 6,000 local customers, to schedule and execute that volume of annual inspections. But the fact that we go back to check the work leads to a lot of referrals. People feel good referring someone dependable to their neighbors.”
New opportunities continue to arise. “Many people started noticing more problems caused by squirrels, birds, roof rats, and other pests,” explains Chalsma. “We’ve started to concentrate on critter control and protection. We rodent-proof roof edges with custom-made, heavy-duty edge flashing, using custom copper pipe collars to encapsulate plumbing vent pipes; squirrels have been known to chew up vent collars made from lead.”
The Roofing Company applies its reputation for excellence toward reaching out to the community. “We’re a Christian based company,” says Chalsma. “When our staff knows of someone who is having hardship and needs roofing services, we try to help with when we are able. We’ve also worked with Extreme Make Over, Habitat for Humanity, Wounded Warrior Project, and the No Roof Left Behind program.”
According to Chalsma, the company will continue to raise the bar for roofing excellence in the Hampton Roads area. “If customers are thinking the word ‘roofing’–whether it’s low or steep slopes, metal, slate, tile, or any other roofing option–we want to be on the top of their minds, with The Roofing Company as the excellent choice and the customer’s first choice.”
