Dr. Cali Estes recently announced the largest and most comprehensive life coach certification body, The International Coaching Federation has completed a review and approved The Addictions Academy as a certified provider of Continuing Coach Education. The International Coaching Federation (ICF) has approved up to 36 hours of Continuing Education Units on our Recovery Coach class for all ICF members. Also, The Addictions Academy follows the 11 core competencies of the ICF training for all coach classes.
“It’s valuable for coaches to stay up to date and trained on the latest technologies and strategies that work,” explained Dr. Estes.
She continued, “It’s wonderful that we can play an important role not only in helping to train the best coaches in the world but to teach Continuing Education as well and keep them at the top. We’ve found that Life Coaches can include Addiction and Recovery Coaching as a powerful addition to their current service offerings.”
The Addictions Academy is the global leader in addiction recovery coach training and certification and is the only ICF certified institution offering comprehensive courses for Recovery Coaches, Family Recovery Coaches, Nutrition in Recovery Coaching, and many more. Their Certified Recovery Coach training allows graduates to be at the forefront of helping others with their drug and alcohol addictions. A Recovery Coach sets the parameters of the conversation, listens and contributes observations and questions, provides a roadmap for success, and assists the client as a team to achieve their desired goals.
Estes said, “Things are always changing in the world of addiction and recovery. It’s critical for any professional to stay current to best serve the clients they work with, lives are at stake.”
Many industries or organizations require Continuing Education as a part of maintaining licensure or membership. It’s also essential in face-paced environments like health care, where discoveries are made regularly, and laws can change quickly.
“Continuing education can boost confidence and lead to opportunities for career advancement,” Dr. Estes also pointed out. “Important in today’s competitive job market.”
The nation’s opioid crisis reached new proportions in 2018, continuing to increase from the unbelievable 70,000 deaths we saw in 2017. Overdose deaths are now higher than deaths from HIV, car crashes, or gun violence at their peaks. The fallout from the opioid epidemic has been far-reaching, and drug companies are paying hundreds of millions of dollars to settle opioid lawsuits.
A report in the New Yor Times most recently about a settlement reached with major opioid drug manufacturers stated, “In the settlement, the drug distributors — McKesson, Cardinal Health and AmerisourceBergen, which distribute about 90 percent of all the medicines to pharmacies, hospitals and clinics in the United States — agreed to pay $215 million to the two Ohio counties that brought the lawsuit. Teva, the Israel-based manufacturer of generic drugs, agreed to pay $20 million in cash over three years and donate $25 million worth of addiction treatment drugs such as a generic Suboxone, which blunts cravings for opioids.”
The story continued, “Even as the two-county settlement was being announced, the drug distributors and other corporate defendants in the trial were pursuing a global deal, worth $48 billion in cash and donated addiction treatments, to resolve all opioid lawsuits against them.”
“The opioid problem, along with alcohol and numerous other substance use disorder issues, is creating more demand for our services than ever,” said Dr. Estes. “And not just here in the US, worldwide this is huge. We’re glad we can provide this valuable CEU training globally.”
If you are battling addiction, either yourself or within your family, you are not alone. A lot of people, approximately 21 million Americans and 8 million Canadians, are experiencing life-threatening substance use disorder today.
