About Drocella Mugorewea
Drocella Mugorewera has a unique story of a successful refugee who lost everything she had worked for over 40 years and had to start over in a new culture with limited English. She was born and raised in Rwanda, Africa, and received a scholarship to study in Kyiv at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. Upon her return, she rose to the position of Director of Agriculture. Eventually, she was appointed to represent the Democratic Christian party to the transitional Parliament and as a member of the Rwandan Government, where she helped bring about significant environmental changes, including the reform that finally allowed women to inherit the land.Â
After her safety was jeopardized, Drocella fled Rwanda alone, bravely starting a new life in Knoxville, Tennessee. There, as the executive director of Bridge Refugee Services, the organization that welcomed her in 2009, the unstoppable leader was named one of Knoxville’s Difference Makers. She felt a greater call to serve humanity on a global scale after leading Bridge Refugee Services, particularly by working with organizations that support refugees and immigrants, African Americans, and building trust between the police department and minority communities.
Today, Drocella is on a mission to create a movement of strong and diverse communities where trust, collaboration, abundance, and healing become a way of life at the local, national, and global levels. She speaks and trains on the topics of diversity, resilience and change. The former member of parliament and government is establishing her own company and has a lot to share with the rest of the world. She wishes to teach super minorities skills such as networking, mindset, access to resources, and confidence building.
According to the business coach, international bestselling author and speaker, the issue is not brand diversity or website trust. It is that tangible outcomes and actions are required. Drocella is also an advocate for language access. Nobody should be left behind because of their language. She believes that leveraging languages and skills can help the economy. She affirms that cultivating strong diversity can change and heal the world. Businesses thrive when communities thrive, and vice versa.
Now, Drocella wants to inspire and give hope to others who are facing difficulties and adversity, mainly as a result of the pandemic. She concludes by saying that while you can lose your worldly possessions and your job, you can never lose who you are.
