Author Jeffrey Shaw recently celebrated his book LINGO: Discover Your Ideal Customer’s Secret Language and Make Your Business Irresistible, hit the Amazon Bestsellers List, and his goal to present at a TEDx event would be realized.

For more than three decades, Jeffrey Shaw, a.k.a. the Lingo Guy has been one of the most sought-after portrait photographers in the U.S., and now as a speaker & business coach, Shaw teaches entrepreneurs how to attract their ideal customers by speaking their Secret Language.

Shaw shares in his book and presentations, how anyone, can become irresistible to their selected audience – whether it’s a high-end market, low-end or anything in between. The result for a business when they speak their ideal customer’s Secret Language is the customer feels this brand or business really “gets” them. That creates brand loyalty.

Shaw will speak at TEDxLincolnSquare in NYC on March 27, 2018 https://www.tedxlincolnsquare.com/speakers/2/

When he was first starting out as a freelance photographer, he struggled to know who was the right client before he could succeed “I needed to find my ideal client to serve. I needed to find where I belonged first.”

What he realized that is fundamental to his TEDx talk is the Validation Paradox. That when we surround ourselves with the right people, IE: ideal customers, they see more in us than we see in ourselves. That’s how we achieve our highest levels of success.

Shaw says the greatest business advantage is to develop a business working ONLY with ideal customers – the people who can enrich you as a person, and equally who you are uniquely qualified to serve BEST.

These are people who see more in you, than you can see in yourself.

“I never could have seen in myself, who I became as a photographer; but the people I worked with saw more in me than I saw in myself. That pushed that personal development UP constantly.” he said in a recent podcast interview on Business Done Differently with Jesse Cole https://businessdonedifferently.podbean.com

A key point stressed by Shaw is that people need to “loosen the grip” they have on the outcome of their goals. While he himself has set many number specific goals, he says it’s important to recognize the difference between being ready for the outcome of your goals in your mind and heart, or in your preparation.

The number one question people have is how to define their ideal customer. Shaw says to identify your ideal customer, you have to know your innate characteristics, your skills, and what makes you unique, to know who will be ideal for you to work with.

LINGO also outlines more communication areas to consider once you know your ideal customer’s perspective including:
* The familiarity you have with your ideal clients, and they have with you
* Your brand style that helps them connect and choose to work with you
* How strategic pricing impacts your perceived value
* Stand out from competition by offering your unique perspective on the problem/solution

Shaw shares in his book, one company that really gets the “lingo” and experience right for their customers in every interaction, is ManCrates.com an online provider of memorable customised gifts for men.
