Exposure strategist Lisa Williams is hanging her hat on helping entrepreneurs, professionals, and business owners leverage publicity, partnerships, and philanthropy to garner notoriety, differentiate themselves from their competition, and increases their bottom line. All of this, she says, can be accomplished while also shedding the pressure of trying to climb the latter in a crowded industry.
“It all starts with them picking themselves,” Williams explains. This is a concept Seth Godin, known by many as the godfather of modern marketing, certainly agrees with.
“It’s a cultural instinct to wait to get picked — to seek out the permission and authority that comes from a publisher or talk show host or even a blogger saying, ‘I pick you.’ Once you reject that impulse and realize that no one is going to select you, once you understand that there are problems just waiting to be solved, once you realize that you have all the tools and all the permission you need, then opportunities to contribute abound.

“The New P’s of Marketing,” as Williams describes them — positioning, publicity, publishing, partnerships, and philanthropy — are the cornerstone of her new webinar and speaking tour titled, “THE SHIFT: How to Boost your Brand, your Buzz and your Bank account.”
“The way businesses need to present themselves to their customers is changing,” explains Williams. “Millennials are now the biggest consumer market in the U.S., and more than 90% of millennials would switch to a brand associated with a cause,” she says citing SustainableBrands.com. “THE SHIFT is about informing entrepreneurs and leaders about what’s working today.”
An August 2016 Huffington Post article confirms Williams’ message: “Cause marketing and social responsibility as a whole is something that all businesses and brands should be trying to incorporate into their business plans. If not, they can expect their audience to turn to competitors who are.”
THE SHIFT will enlighten entrepreneurs and business owners on how to not let that happen. It will focus on the importance of showing prospects and clients who they are outside of just making money.
“I want to educate business owners on how to keep a competitive edge and show them how they can succeed in whatever industry they are in — without having to compete,” says Williams on her reason for launching THE SHIFT.
