RB Comms Announces Opening of West Coast Media Strategy Office

Media communications firm Rick Brown Communications announces the opening of a new media strategy office in Northern California aimed at helping small, local businesses.

Media communications firm Rick Brown Communications has announced the opening of their new West Coast office and the expansion of their current line of media communication services. The firm’s Northern California location will be home to their new Media Strategy Office, which will focus on providing media placement services intended specifically to help small, local businesses gain media exposure.

When RB Comms was established near Washington D.C. in 2011, they began offering media interview training, consulting, and spokesperson services for a client-base in the mid-Atlantic region. Following significant growth there, the media communications firm began looking toward expansion in the western U.S. and opened their California office last month.

The firm’s CEO, Rick Brown, believes their new location allows them to reach small businesses in one of the fastest growing regions in the country, citing a recent Forbes report that says four of the top 10 fastest-growing cities in America for 2018 are located in western states, plus three more in Texas.

He also points to the U.S. Small Business Administration, which says that in 2014, there were nearly 30 million small businesses – independent businesses having less than 500 employees – in the U.S. compared to only 19,000 large businesses, and that between 1993 and 2016, those small businesses accounted for roughly 62 percent of new jobs.

“There is so much opportunity for small business owners where all of these new communities are popping up,” said Brown, “and the small, local business is critical to the growth and sustainment of each of these communities – you can’t have one without the other. Our new location puts us in a better position to help small business owners in this part of the country.”

According to Brown, his firm’s new media strategy services are designed to help those small businesses gain third party credibility by providing exposure through news media. “If you’re not familiar with the rapidly moving news cycle, it can be tough to keep up and know how to work with it,” he explained. “The news media is very much a relationship industry, and I have spent my entire career navigating the news media and building those relationships.

Brown added, “This is the kind of exposure that was once reserved only for large companies with access to big PR firms, but I want to get this access into the hands of the small, local business owners who can really capitalize on the opportunity to grow not only their businesses, but also their communities.”
