Getting customers through the door on Sunday evenings is a common problem in the restaurant industry. Chef Rob Snow of the Greenhouse Craft Food has an innovative solution that is getting attention from other restaurants nationally. He is also winning rave reviews from customers for his pairing of local beers with his famous farm to table menu that is sourced from local farms and ranches.
Greenhouse Craft Food is a casual farm to table restaurant nestled in the suburbs of Round Rock, TX serving up comfort food with big Texas flavors.
Chef Snow hosts “beer dinners” one Sunday a month. At the beer dinners, he pairs various local craft beers with delicious local food to create a meal that is more than just a dinner, it is an experience.
Guests learn about the beers they are drinking and the breweries they come from, as well as learn how to pair food and beer like a pro.
When asked about why this is so popular with customers, Chef Snow said, “It may surprise you, but pairing beer with food is the number one activity tied to beer’s enjoyment. When you consciously pair, tuning into the interactions occurring between your craft beer and food, major tasting mojo magic often happens.”
Snow started hosting these beer dinners in his Round Rock restaurant for the local community because the craft brewing industry has almost universally embraced civic and regional pride as one of its keystones. This aligns with Snow’s ‘keep it local’ principles too.
Michelle, a Greenhouse Craft Food customer, said, ”I just had my first beer pairing dinner and all I can say is…wow! This is the best meal I have had in a long time! The menu was creative and unique. I have never had any of the food that was presented.”
Sample pairings include the Austin Beerworks Flavor Country Pale Ale paired with a wild boar gyro, petite pita, chile marinated feta and tomatoes, pickled red onion and green tomato tzatziki.
Another was the Big Bend Brewing Company Barrel-Aged Marfa Light Russian Imperial Stout paired with a venison meatball, Texas red chile sauce, smoked sourdough toast, whiskey poached apricots and grilled squash
In addition to beer dinners, Round Rock’s Greenhouse Craft Food serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Their regular menu consists of craft sandwiches, hormone and antibiotic-free burgers, steaks and chicken, pasta dishes, hearty soups and salads and rotating weekly chef specials.
Greenhouse Craft Food offers a fixed menu of familiar Texas comfort food favorites alongside a weekly rotating menu featuring chef specials made with the best sustainably grown and raised Texas ingredients free of harmful pesticides and antibiotics. They source from the best Texas purveyors as often as possible, giving customers the choice to feed themselves and their families real good and delicious food.
