FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Hampton, VA – May 16, 2015: The Roofing Company, Inc.

The Roofing Company, Inc., of Hampton, Virginia, has received GAF’s most prestigious contractor award: The GAF President’s Club Award. This highly coveted award recognizes The Roofing Company as one of the “elite of the elite” residential roofing contractors in the United States.

GAF is North America’s largest roofing manufacturer, and only GAF Master Elite(R) Contractors can compete for its President’s Club Award. To qualify for this award, a contractor must demonstrate an exceptional level of excellence in their business, especially in the areas of Installation Excellence, Consumer Protection, and Installer Training.

The Roofing Company has been a GAF Master Elite(R) Contractor since 2002. To become a Master Elite(R) Contractor–a status that less than 2% of roofing contractors nationwide have achieved–a candidate must demonstrate proper licensing and adequate insurance, have a proven reputation and show commitment to ongoing professional training.

Brian Chalsma, president and CEO of The Roofing Company, is rightfully proud of his company’s reputation. “We make a big deal out of installation excellence,” he says. “We’re the leading slate roofing company in Hampton Roads. We were also the first Master Elite roofer in Hampton Roads to win the President’s Club Award in its first year, when there were only 28 winners in the entire country. And we’ve won it every year since then.”

“The award shows that our company is dependable,” continues Chalsma. “We’re trained well, and we have longevity–we’re starting our third decade of service here in Hampton Roads, Virginia.”

Attention to detail is also important at The Roofing Company. “There are little things that some contractors don’t think about–like the importance of cleaning up well after the roofing job is complete,” says Chalsma. “When you have a beautiful new roof, you don’t want the flipside to be scraps or debris on your property. A leftover nail popping a tire in your driveway is no fun.”

That attention to quality is not restricted only to job-completion time. “We do a courtesy annual inspection called a Customer Appreciation Inspection,” states Chalsma. “Many customers tell us that previous contractors never came back to check on their work. With almost 6,000 local customers, it’s a big deal to schedule and execute that volume of annual inspections. But the fact that we go back to check the work leads to a lot of referrals. People feel good referring someone who is that dependable in their neighborhoods.”

New opportunities continue to arise for the company. “A lot of people started noticing more problems caused by squirrels, birds, roof rats, and other critters and attic pests,” explains Chalsma. “We’ve really started to concentrate on critter control and protection. We’ll rodent-proof roof edges with custom made heavy duty edge flashing, and we use custom made copper pipe collars to encapsulate your plumbing vent pipes because squirrels have been known to chew up plumbing vent collars made from lead.”

The Roofing Company applies its reputation for excellence toward reaching out to the community. “We’re a Christian based company. When our staff knows of someone who is having hardship and needs roofing services, we try to help with when we are able,” says Chalsma. “We’ve also worked with Extreme Make Over, Habitat for Humanity, Wounded Warrior Projects, and the No Roof Left Behind program.”

According to Chalsma, the company will continue to raise the bar for roofing excellence in the Hampton Roads area. “If customers are thinking the word ‘roofing’–whether it’s low or steep slopes, metal, slate, tile, or any other roofing option — we want to be on the top of their minds. If it’s got something to with roofing, we want The Roofing Company to be the excellent choice and the customer’s first choice.”
