Corporate Presenter Harriet Stein Promotes Mindful Leadership as a Best Practice for A More Engaged Workplace

As employees continue to struggle with stress in the workplace, health care experts are turning to alternative means of supporting the physical, mental, and emotional health of their teams.

Recently, the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine reported that “health care expenditures are nearly 50% greater for workers who report high levels of stress.” Stress in the workplace leads to increased absenteeism, high turnover, and disengaged, unfocused employees.

While stress is part of daily life, healthcare expert Harriet Stein says the key is in how people manage those daily challenges – and she has a solution that works.

According to Stein, research has highlighted the clear benefits of Mindfulness. “People who participate in Mindfulness practices show a marked decrease in stress, in pain levels, and an improvement in sleep quality,” Stein says. “They are happier and healthier.”

Harriet Stein, a registered nurse and professional corporate presenter with 35 years of experience in the healthcare industry, taught Mindfulness at Johnson & Johnson for nine years. Her passion is helping individuals take steps toward a healthier, more fulfilling life through the practice of Mindfulness to enhance both their professional and personal lives. Companies such as Google, Adobe, General Mills, IBM, and Intel are just a few examples of companies using Mindfulness to improve productivity and profitability.

Yet, Stein says it all begins with Mindful Leadership. “A Mindful Leader is prepared to handle challenges and obstacles in a positive way in the workplace,” Stein says. “They can deal successfully with stress, and their positive leadership example means more productive and attentive employees, which improves the bottom line for companies.”

Stein has presented to over 5,000 employees and given mindfulness presentations at internal leadership summits for global audiences. “I have attended many of Harriet’s Mindfulness Sessions while she worked and conducted weekly sessions at Johnson & Johnson,” says participant Bryan Pehrson. “I looked forward to those sessions each week. Harriet is an inspiring individual and her Mindfulness sessions were just what I needed.”

Experts like Stein believe that Mindfulness will become increasingly important as companies look to leverage over three decades of research showing the positive benefits of this practice in the workplace. “Mindfulness is easy to learn,” Stein says. “It involves only a small time commitment to bring forth immediate, positive results.”

Harriet Stein offers actionable programs for large organizations, small groups, and individuals. Programs are from one hour up to a full day in length and are customized for the needs of each client. Harriet’s workshops teach people how to easily work with the many challenges they face every day and help employees to be healthier, more creative, collaborative and accepting.
