Embrace Home Loans in Partnership with Delaware State Housing Authority, American Spirit Federal Credit Union, Interfaith Community Housing (ICHDE) and Faith City Family Church to Present Free Seminar Series to Promote Homeownership and Financial Literacy

Embrace Home Loans is pleased to announce a joint venture with Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA), American Spirit Federal Credit Union, Interfaith Community Housing of Delaware (ICHDE) and Faith City Family Church to provide a series of free seminars designed to help educate the community on matters of financial literacy. The series, Financial Education and Homebuyers Orientation, will begin on Tuesday, January 27 and will cover everything from credit and savings, to home ownership (including first time buyer program available through State of Delaware) and how to protect your investments. Shaun Clark, a mortgage Loan Officer with Embrace, who is particularly passionate about the first-time buyer community, helped to spearhead the project and was thrilled to bring his mortgage lending expertise to the table. “As part of this team, I feel like I’m giving my community not just the opportunity of homeownership, but introducing a new way of life and financial independence to those who most need it.” In addition to Shaun’s participation and literature on the mortgage process, Embrace Home Loans will provide; dinner in conjunction with ICHDE, a free credit report for every participant, a $500 closing cost credit, and free pre-qualification to those interested and/or ready to begin looking for a home.

Designed to support financial responsibility in the community, this four week seminar series is a combined effort that began when Shaun met with Maurice Dawkins and James Elias of American Spirit Credit Union. What started as a program to assist first-time homebuyers quickly grew in scope to meet what had been identified as a greater need for financial literacy in the community. Tracy Spriggs and Arlise Howard of Interfaith Community Housing (ICHDE) suggested the need for a larger venue for the classes in order to reach more people. Dawkins reached out to Pastor Steve Hare of Faith City Family Church. Pastor Hare not only offered his church as the location for the series, he also offered childcare facilities, a kitchen to prepare and serve dinner and a member of his staff to help register participants.

The scope and value of these seminars has been improved by the inclusion of the DSHA as a participant. The series will be facilitated by ICHDE, who will provide literature and training. Speakers will include, an Insurance Agent, Real Estate Attorney, Mortgage Loan Officer, Banking Officer and Housing Counselor. In addition to providing banking expertise, American Spirit Credit Union will offer access to banking products and credit builder loans to those in need.

Shaun and his partners feel it is critical that those in need have access to a team of professionals they can depend on to get the help they need, when they need it. He believes this joint venture and the series of seminars “not only highlight what each of these organization has to offer the community, it also enables all of those involved to give back.”
