There is no shortage of news and opinions about what it would be like if Donald Trump became President of the United States. However, according to Brian Ainsley Horn, Co-Founder of Authority Media Group, LLC, if we don’t specifically look at how a President Trump would impact the Internet and online commerce, we are missing one of the most important pieces of the economy.
“Mr. Trump has some very strong pros and cons in his platform with regards to the Internet. On the positive, he is opposed to net neutrality and with his background, I think he could be the one President to successfully rebuild our infrastructure on him and on budget. But there is a big negative. He said he was for shutting down portions of Internet to fight ISIS terrorist recruitment. This would be an incredibly dangerous precedent,” said Horn.
Former Congressman and Presidential candidate, Ron Paul agrees this is concerning.
“In a free society, you should be allowed to lead the life you choose but suffer the consequences if you make a mistake, but also the government can’t come in and tell us what we can do with our personal lifestyles,” said Paul.
Horn predicts that Trump would not follow through with this statement, but it shows a difference in core values from most of the internet community.
