October 7, 2019 (BOSTON, Mass.) – For parents whose children are being bullied, turning to a certified parent coach like Beth Greenawalt can be a wise alternative to navigating sensitive parent and peer relationships alone.
As founder and owner of Milton-based Parent-Solutions, responding to bullying is just one of the ways Greenawalt helps parents. In one of two recent interviews on Boston 25 News WFXT-TV, she advised parents to listen first, then calmly collaborate with their child.
“Your heart can be racing. Your throat can be closing up. You can feel rage or hurt. Just listen and then once you’re a little calmer, you can think of ways you may want to approach this. Discuss it with your child and move forward with it,” she said.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month and, according to the National Center for Education Statistics, more than one out of five students nationwide report being bullied. Whether it happens at school or online, the emotional, physical and mental consequences can be devastating for a child.
Greenawalt also encouraged viewers to get involved in their child’s online life during a separate interview with the news program.
She provided specific tips to help parents make technology work for, rather than against, them. Greenawalt said the start of a new school year is a perfect time for parents to establish new ground rules about device use and screen time.
