The Business Innovators Magazine radio show covers stories from the most innovative leaders in business, such as Mark Cuban, Jeff Bezos and Dave Ramsey. This interview with Robert Wahmann was published on June 2, 2016

In this powerful interview, listeners will learn how neuroendocrine cancer patients and their caregivers can receive helpful information and support through the Neuroendocrine Cancer Awareness Network.

The Neuroendocrine Cancer Awareness Network is a nonprofit corporation chartered in 2004. The company’s mission is to support neuroendocrine cancer patients throughout their journey, as well as to raise awareness of neuroendocrine cancer.

Robert Wahmann is the founder and executive director of the Neuroendocrine Cancer Awareness Network. Wahmann founded the company after his wife, Maryann, was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer in 2001. She is a survivor. When Wahmann founded the Neuroendocrine Cancer Awareness Network, he wanted neuroendocrine cancer patients to have a resource to help make their journey smoother. Today, Wahmann and his wife create and give presentations at conferences across the country. Wahmann’s goal is that the attendees leave with a better knowledge of the disease and the many treatment options available.

In addition to providing funding for cancer research, the Neuroendocrine Cancer Awareness Network offers information, support groups and financial assistance for neuroendocrine cancer patients and caregivers. They also send emails with helpful information and have a hotline, which is always answered by neuroendocrine cancer patient or caregiver.

Wahmann explains that when his wife was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer in 2001, there were not many resources available to help. They were at a loss. Once his wife was cured, the two didn’t want anyone else diagnosed with the disease to feel the same way. That’s why they created the Neuroendocrine Cancer Awareness Network. Wahmann says, “When we talk to people on the hotline, pretty much three to four times a week, people call and say, ‘Ugh, I can’t believe I got this and nobody knows about it and there’s nothing that can be done.’ And we’re able to help them out with some information and steer them toward physicians who do understand what this disease is about and get them some help.”
